Re: Resolved: new xios M3 will not update to recent firmware

Hi Guys,

I have a also the signature problem.

However, i was trying to install the "Popcorn time" on my Pivos which had the XBMC Linux installation on it. after some search i found out it was not possible within XBMC and reinstalled my device with android. Installation worked perfect!!

However, i noticed Popcorn time was using my mSD card for cash and my 2GB card was not big enough. The setup aloud only to move the cash folder to the device or my mSD card.. so concluded Popcorn Time was only a option with a mSD card with a large storage.

after re-installing XBMC linux i decided i wanted to poke around more in the android system en attemded to install android ones more..

i used the same same download file,
same mSD
and got the "E:signature verification failed"

by now i have formated the mSD card about 10 times, downloaded diffrent editions of the software, on diffrent browsers..
and used 3 mSD cards..

i am out of options to try..
anyone suggestions what the problem is??

thanks in advance for your time and affort,
reinold

This thread is NOT about signature verification failure.
As mentioned earlier: Failed signature verification usually means that you have a bad update file (try redownloading or use a different browser to download or a different program to unzip) or a bad mSD card (try reformating).
You seem to have done it all, just verify that you are formatting the mSD card in FAT32 and that you extract the update.img from within the update zip file.
If all fails RMA the box.

Hi,

I am a newbie and I've been trying to install the Linux XBMC package on my XIOS but keep getting this message:

Verifying update package....
Installing update....
assert failed: getprop("ro.build.product") == "xiosm3"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.img
(status 7)
Finding update package...
E: Can't mount /udisk/update.img
System Update aborted.

Does anyone know how I fix this?

Thanks in advance

You sure you have a XIOS DS M3 not the M1 revision ?

I have the same problem updating an M1 Xios to Gotham. I can't PM yet - is there another way to get the fix?

This issue is not relevant to M1 (or even in M3 currently available in the market), it was a single M3 batch from couple of years ago.

All recently reported issues turns out to be either a bad firmware image, bad mSD card or a wrong firmware image.

Hi, I am also having the same problem, and getting the same errors. Unfortunately I am too new to the forum to send a PM yet. My S/N begins with 0002GM322... and I noticed the latest M3 rebuild requires GM34... or higher. Is this my problem? Do I still have an M3 box? Thanks. Capuanma

I'm sorry, I should have also included the error I'm getting when I try to update. It reads:

assert failed: getprop("ro.build.product") == "xiosm3"
(Status 7)
Finding update package...
E: Can't mount /udisk/update.img
System Update aborted

Thanks again.

The firmware build you referenced is actually backward compatible, it doesn't require GM34 but GM34 requires it :), that said it adds no new functionality for GM32 hardware so its not a needed update.

Have you even been able to update your firmware ever before ? or are you still on stock ICS ?

I cannot PM you either because I am a new member of the forum. I will also attach some pictures to be more clearer of the error.

Which TV box is that ?!

Serial number should be at the bottom of the housing (not the board).

The recovery screen shown in the picture is not from XIOS DS-M3 devices, also the message you quoted in your post is not the message shown in the screen shot.
