I've done some more prodding around with the pivos this evening and tried (and successfully) recreated my problem where the pivos will turn on, then immediately turn off again. I don't quite understand what's happening, but I'll try and cut and paste what I have in my logs and hope that someone (who normally seems to be aasoror!) can help me.

I've remapped 's' to be XBMC.Suspend in my keymaps rather than bringing up the shutdown menu.

Here's what a normal shutdown (suspend) and then startup looks like in the logs:
Code: Select all

Note that this is with the Harmony remote. If I do it with the stock Pivos remote, I get the exact same sequence.
So the interesting part is that the shutdown sequence is exactly the same in both cases, but it's when it comes back from standby that the problem occurs.
When it's working, it gets an OnWake notice and restarts lirc. This means that it misses the 's' keypress sent and so doesn't suspend it again. However, in the case that it fails, this OnWake notice isn't received, so lirc isn't restarted and the 's' keypress immediately powers off the box.

I don't know what I can do to pursue this issue further and I don't know why I haven't seen it with the stock remote but I have with the harmony. This is running the latest firmware (updated yesterday). If someone can give me some pointers on how to proceed I'd appreciate it!

So is it now deterministically repeatable ?

So is it there with the stock remote ?

Map suspend to noop, so that the box never turns off. Just get the harmony remote to turn off all the other peripherals.

That is what I did because debugging the problem was to frustrating. ;-)

Actually, if I remember correctly, I mapped "s" to stop so that when the harmony was powering off everything the media that was currently playing was stopped.

Enjoy.

I'm still getting this problem about once every 3 resumes or so with the stock remote. I thought "lightly" pressing the stock remote was helping but hard to say really.

agentgonzo, interesting pattern you noticed there; I looked back at my old logs and see the same. Can you clarify whether you get this with the stock remote as well?

Aasoror, it's not deterministically repeatable. I would say that I get the problem once every 10 times (so 9-out-of-10 times it turns off and then back on again fine, but once every 10 times, when I turn it on it turns straight back off again). However, if I get the problem (that it turns off immediately) then the logs are the same every time. I hope that explains it.

I haven't seen the problem with the stock remote, but TBH that's because I rarely use it and use the Harmony. I'll try prodding it this evening and see if I can get the problem with the stock remote, but from what mexxmann is saying he gets it with the stock remote.

I can unmap <s> so that the pivos doesn't turn off, but then the box stays on constantly wasting power and getting hot. I'd prefer it turns off when it's not used.

OK, I finally got the time to test it with the stock remote. After a couple of on-off-on-off cycles, I recreated the problem. One button push on the stock remote got it to turn on then immediatly off again.

Here are the logs
Code: Select all
<-- Pivos On at start -->
<-- Power button pushed on stock remote -->
19:46:03 T:1093873312   DEBUG: Keyboard: scancode: 1f, sym: 0073, unicode: 0073, modifier: 0
19:46:03 T:1093873312   DEBUG: OnKey: s (f053) pressed, action is XBMC.Suspend
19:46:03 T:1093873312   DEBUG: CAnnouncementManager - Announcement: OnSleep from xbmc

19:46:03 T:1093873312  NOTICE: OnSleep: Stopping lirc
19:46:03 T:1093873312    INFO: LIRC setUsed: disabled
19:46:03 T:1093873312   DEBUG: CSoftAE::Suspend - Suspending AE processing
<-- Pivos turned off -->
<-- Power button pressed here -->
<-- marker1 -->
19:46:12 T:1093873312   DEBUG: Keyboard: scancode: 1f, sym: 0073, unicode: 0073, modifier: 0
19:46:12 T:1093873312   DEBUG: OnKey: s (f053) pressed, action is XBMC.Suspend
19:46:12 T:1093873312   DEBUG: CAnnouncementManager - Announcement: OnSleep from xbmc
19:46:12 T:1093873312   DEBUG: GOT ANNOUNCEMENT, type: 8, from xbmc, message OnSleep
19:46:12 T:1093873312  NOTICE: OnSleep: Running sleep jobs
19:46:12 T:1093873312  NOTICE: OnSleep: Stopping lirc
19:46:12 T:1093873312    INFO: LIRC setUsed: disabled
19:46:12 T:1093873312   DEBUG: CSoftAE::Suspend - Suspending AE processing
<-- marker2 -->
<-- Pivos ends here powered off -->

Between marker1 and marker2, the pivos turned on, then almost immediately off again.

Hello, since last update (august), there seems that same issue appears between my ds m3 and my harmony remote control : after my harmony activity power off the DS , sometime, when returning from standby, same behavior as before : the system start then immediatly return to standby. It's not always reproductif, sometime the return from standby works sometime it doesn't work properly.
