Random Reboot & Reset of XS Problem

Postby xiosfan » April 18th, 2017, 11:18 pm

Out of a few XS boxes I've dealt with there is an issue with the latest Linux firmware : XS will randomly freeze and/or reboot and when the bootup is complete it will be reset to the default TOFU Confluence skin and need the settings like time, video, and rss feeds turned off etc. On 2 boxes it hardly happens, maybe once every 2 months but on another it happens as much as daily and with various setups and skins.

Is this a known issue and how can it be corrected?

Was the problematic box "cleanly" flashed (with a factory reset and no redirect userdata) ?
Is internal storage getting filled up ? if so go external then do a factory reset.
Is userdata being redirected to external storage ? if so is it corrupted ? try a different card.
Is internal userdata being used ? if so is internal storage getting corrupted ? go external.
Would reverting to any prior versions fix it ?

Factory reset with cache wiped and no redirect.

Will try a prior version and external storage if need be.
How can I tell if internal or exteral storage is getting corupted?

Missing setting (usually coupled with random reboots and/or freezes) is almost always a sign of either storage being filled up or corrupted.
