Code: Select all

If you are getting ERR:DOWNLOAD FILE then the script is working fine, as you are able to manually download the file then the link in the address is fine too.
Have you applied a patch update on your AIOS before ? Can you double check for typos ? any extra spaces or something ?

Thank you Aasoror. My Aios is R23 already. I haven't upgraded it to R23.1 because most of time I am using my two Xios. What patch should I apply before I use this link? I have the downloaded .php file but I don't know how to use it. Can you please explain?

No extra patch updates required (just meant to ask if you are familiar with the operation).
opening the php file should automatically download the zip update file (if you end up with .php file saved on your PC them then something went wrong).
Applying the patch on top of R23 is rather easy, just need to figure out the AIOS IP address (from the AIOS GUI settings page) and replace it in the link below

Code: Select all
http://YOUR.AIOS.IP.ADDRESS/cgi-bin/custom/wget_unzip.php?url=http://www.pivosforums.com/download/file.php?id=559&dest=/usr/local/etc/

Open the modified address on any web browser on your PC (connected to the same network as your AIOS), that should automatically download the update file and push it to the AIOS.

I used to download .zip (?) files and insert to USB and upgrade, very easy. But haven't done so for a while. As I have the upgrade .zip file (contains .php), can I use that to upgrade? I followed every step, copy /paste link in my pc (same network) - change IP address to Aios' address, but still get ERR: DOWNLOAD FILE. I found some time and want to upgrade Aios and Xios today. Thank you for your help.

Can you access the AIOS over FTP ? install filezilla to your PC and start FTP on the AIOS (From the Settings menu).
push the .php from your PC to usr/local/etc/custom/ folder. You will get a prompt about "overwriting an existing file" confirm that, reboot your box and you are done.

Yup, the easiest way to know is that YT is now working ;)

Thank you for the solution, aasoror. 2 questions:
1- how to test YT or any links that you can refer to?
2- for my 2 Xios, I downloaded the latest ICS. How can I upgrade them without having to reinstall all the programs that I installed before? Just want to make sure as I haven't upgraded ICS for a while.

Open APPS -> YouTube .. browse videos and try opening one.

Hello,

I am having an issue after attempting to install the newest firmware (3.0.1.7 R23.1). After attempting installation all I am seeing on the screen is what looks like an picture of the back of the AIOS Pivos box which shows all the features.

If I hit the enter button 2 small buttons appear on the left side of the screen and if I hit setup while those buttons are there I can get into options, but the media player will sometimes reset it self back to the box screen. I have been trying to install other firmware versions from an internal hard drive to no avail.

I even tried removing the hard drive and placing inside an external and hooking to the rear and side usb ports and the update isn't detected in either scenario. Didn't know if there was another to apply a firmware update outside of the PANIC recovery method since it isn't working for me; I was hoping my box isn't semi bricked. Thanks in advance.
